Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Singapore Economic Development Board.
Intern
The interview process had 3 rounds. First, there was a Hirevue interview with about 7 questions, and after that, some online assessments. The Hirevue questions asked me to explain why I chose my top 3 projects for the internship. Second, I had a 24-hour essay assignment, about 400-500 words. The question was straightforward and mostly related to the internship project I would be assigned to. Third, I interviewed with the hiring manager. They asked basic questions like elaborating on my resume and how I would handle certain scenarios. They also asked about the essay to check my thought process and reasoning.
- How would you deal with disagreements on your team?
Intern
The interview process is straightforward and tailored to the specific project you're applying for. It would be beneficial to do a deep dive into the project as part of your interview preparation. You should also be ready to connect your research findings with the goals of EDB and discuss how they could contribute to or enhance current EDB operations.
- Could you identify any emerging areas within the xx industry that EDB ought to explore?
Intern
I sent in my application online. Then I had a phone interview where they asked about my motivations, skills, and commercial awareness regarding the fields I was interested in. After that, I got an essay test. Depending on the department, I had to do case studies or talk about my vision for the industry, all within one page. The next step was a face-to-face group interview with HR. We discussed my motivations and CV, and then they went over my essay, asking for my reasoning and thought process, plus another case study related to what I wrote. Finally, I got an offer via email.
- Can you discuss case studies related to the industry you've chosen?
- What are your thoughts on your chosen industry?
