Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Singapore Civil Defence Force.
Officer
First, an intro call with HR about company culture and the SCDF Psychometric test, which is a long questionnaire. Then, an essay on a current affair to be written live at HQ. Finally, a panel interview with the Commissioner, Director of HRD, and Director of CDA.
- What unique qualities do you possess that set you apart?
Officer
HR reached out via email to set up the interview and assign an online essay. The main interview was in person. Before starting, I had to fill out a form with personal questions not related to the office role I applied for. The panel included my direct supervisor, an HR person, and their boss (the department head). The supervisor was stern and unfriendly, the HR person seemed disengaged, and only the department head was communicative and approachable. The interview questions were mostly personal, not about my skills or experience, though some were unnecessary and out of place. It wasn't a difficult interview overall.
- What made you decide to apply to SCDF?
Officer
The interview process involves generic questions. The interviewer leads with basic questions and expects the candidate to provide more details. The candidate should be able to adapt flexibly and maintain focus on the discussion topic.
- Tell me about your role responsibilities.
- Describe your work scope.
- What are your key deliverables?
