The interview process was pretty chill and the HR folks were nice. Don't hesitate to email them if you have questions; they reply fast. First, I had an interview with a Major who was super welcoming and gave me great advice about SCDF and how I could improve. This really showed me the company culture. Make sure to do your homework beforehand though, like reading the career booklet or annual report. The last interview was more serious, with a Dir of HR and two other senior managers. They might challenge your answers, so stay calm and take deep breaths if you feel stressed. They want to see how you handle pressure. Keep up with the news and know your reasons for wanting to join. They can tell if you're just saying things without meaning it.

You'll get an email about a month after the ad closes, telling you the interview date and if there's a written test. On interview day, you fill out an application form with a lot of stuff not really relevant for a civilian role. The interview time isn't firm; they schedule it so you end up waiting because each person takes an hour or more. After the interview, you have to wait again for updates, checking the application status yourself for 'unsuccessful'. They also want you to list other jobs you've applied for, but then they take their sweet time processing. Definitely needs changes.

HR reached out via email to set up the interview and assign an online essay. The main interview was in person. Before starting, I had to fill out a form with personal questions not related to the office role I applied for. The panel included my direct supervisor, an HR person, and their boss (the department head). The supervisor was stern and unfriendly, the HR person seemed disengaged, and only the department head was communicative and approachable. The interview questions were mostly personal, not about my skills or experience, though some were unnecessary and out of place. It wasn't a difficult interview overall.

If you're looking at this, you probably want to work here. Definitely ask your interviewer questions back. The salary is public knowledge, but career development and promotions aren't. Make sure you get a clear answer on how they plan to develop you, not just vague answers like 'organizational needs.' Ask about the standards of your training facility and who specifically will be training you. Ensure you aren't getting ripped off. Finally, inquire about how inclusive the organization is and what systems are in place to support a diverse workforce. If you're happy with their responses, you can accept their offer.
