It was a long interview process but I got to chat with many people, which helped me learn more about the job, the tasks, and the team I would be joining. Overall, it was a good experience.

So after an initial phone call, I was invited for a 4-hour interview. I noticed the job description wasn't a good fit and asked the recruiter if they were serious about me. They said yes, so I went ahead. A week later, they said I've only done new construction, but they need someone for old building improvement. This is strange because my resume clearly stated what I do, and I confirmed this with them beforehand. Why didn't they read my resume or think about it before wasting 4 hours? Then, I had to prepare a 30-minute presentation using their slides. Many questions felt too basic for someone with 10+ years of experience, like 'what makes you an engineer?' or about my young age. It felt like an intern's questions. After another week, they emailed to schedule a call. I gave my availability, but they just called in the middle of it without confirming. Professional etiquette is either to schedule a confirmed time or just call without notice, not to call randomly in a window I provided. The reason they gave on the call was also ridiculous. I'm not blaming anyone, but the process is very unprofessional compared to other interviews I've had. The people were nice, but the process needs improvement because everyone's time is valuable.

Your interview process will include a spelling test, as the interviewer wants to ensure engineers have strong writing skills. Some one-on-one interviews are more intense than others, focusing on technical questions or how you approach and solve problems. Others are more relaxed, asking general questions about your resume. You may also be taken out to lunch.
