This was a super long and tough process, starting with a hackerrank and then a ton of interviews, more than I had at Google even. They kept saying I was doing great, even the CTO, but then I got a generic rejection email. The whole thing took over two months. I probably wouldn't have bothered if I knew it would be this much effort.

It was a screening call, then a technical video interview where we did pair programming. After that, I had an on-site interview with a bunch of people, even the CEO. They also gave me a programming assignment. What really sucked was that they weren't upfront with me. After weeks of interviews and hearing good things, the CEO said he'd give me an offer soon. A week later, they called to talk about benefits and stuff and asked about my salary expectations. I told them my range, and they said they'd call with the offer by the end of the day. Then, after a few days, I got an email saying they weren't going to move forward with an offer. When I asked why, they just said it wasn't a good fit. I'm still not sure what the real reason was, but I would have preferred honest feedback instead of being led on with good news and a promised offer.

The interview experience at Simon Data was pretty positive with most people being really nice and encouraging. It kicked off with an online coding challenge that was fairly straightforward and brief. After that, I was invited for an onsite interview. This involved meeting with three people from the team: two senior folks and one person in the role I was applying for. One of the interviews actually focused more on product-related questions than I was expecting. I didn't move forward after the onsite, but I was told the next steps would involve phone interviews with more senior employees.
