This interview experience was pretty bad. The interviewer was really confrontational and kept arguing with my answers, even though I backed them up with my experience and expertise. They dismissed what I knew without really talking about it. I was asked technical questions, and when I gave good, relevant answers, they were condescending instead of having a proper conversation. If you're going for senior roles, know that not everyone will treat you as an equal — I felt disrespected and now I'm wondering about their company culture.

So, the interview for the Associate Solutions Architect gig was like a 5-step thing. First, I had a quick chat with the recruiting manager. Then, a 1-hour Zoom with the hiring manager. After that, there was an SQL coding test, an interview with some other Solutions Architects, and the final part was a presentation. I totally bombed the coding assessment though, it wasn't even that hard but I just didn't prepare enough.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • You were given an advanced SQL code assessment to complete.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process at Simon Data was designed with the candidate in mind, which is a refreshing change from the usual. They were really considerate of my time, responding quickly, giving prompt feedback, and being flexible with my schedule. The process kicked off with a recruiter screen, followed by a one-hour chat with the hiring manager, then a panel interview, and finally a presentation. So yeah, there's definitely a time investment, but like I said, they were always on top of feedback and next steps, and they really worked around my availability. Everyone I met was sharp, intelligent, and thoughtful, and it's clear the leadership is building something special here. My recruiter, Bianca, was super organized, responsive, helpful, and friendly. The new leadership is strategic, warm, and impressive. I'm happy I went through the interview process and hope to stay in touch for future opportunities.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process started with a 30-minute recruiter screener call. After that, I had a 30-minute interview with the team lead. It became clear that this role was a new creation, essentially merging two previously separate positions that were apparently laid off earlier in the year. It felt like they weren't entirely sure what they wanted, but also that they expected one person to do it all. The responsibilities include leading Customer Marketing, which involves setting goals, optimizing campaigns, and maintaining strong relationships with both internal teams and external clients. Additionally, the role entails leading Partner Marketing, including identifying new partners, managing existing relationships, working towards set goals, representing the company at national and internal in-person conferences, and handling partner interviews and content creation. This latter part involves scheduling photoshoots, managing the shoots, traveling, editing the content, and distributing it across various platforms. I understood the full scope of these extensive duties within the first 15 minutes of the second interview. I even summarized what the interviewer had explained, and he somewhat retracted his earlier statements but confirmed they indeed needed all these tasks done by one individual. The compensation for this position was also noted to be significantly lower than the industry standard for a similar level, around $30-50k less. I did not proceed to any further interview stages.
