Software Engineer
I applied through HR and the process had 4 rounds. First was an on-call screening with HR. Then Technical Round 1 with a Sr. Software Engineer, covering OOPs, SQL, Exception Handling, DSA, and project discussion. After that, an Online Assessment on HackerRank with 2 DSA coding problems. Technical Round 2 involved a deep dive into my projects, AWS S3 questions, and many technical follow-ups. Finally, an HR Round for general discussion and culture fit.
- Tell me about Java, DSA, Object Oriented Programming Concepts, and Exception Handling.
- Can you explain SQL Nth Highest salary?
- What do you know about AWS S3?
Software Engineer
Pretty simple process: interview with the manager, then a coding task you have a few days to complete, followed by a review of that task with a technical interviewer, and finally an offer. It might change depending on the interviewer, but for me, we mostly discussed my solution and the reasoning behind my choices, rather than testing deep knowledge of language specs or documentation.
- What was your rationale for selecting particular techniques, patterns, or libraries in the solution you submitted?
Software Engineer
Completed a Hackerrank test in early August. A month later, I had a recruiter call before starting interviews. Round 1 was a 1-hour DSA interview with two engineers. Round 2 was a 1-hour technical interview with two engineers from their Europe office. After these rounds, I got positive feedback and the recruiter asked about my compensation details. No offer was made yet. Then, the hiring manager for the India team called. He suggested I take a counter offer from my current company and leave once Simcorp made an offer. Three days later, I received a verbal offer below my expectations. The recruiter mentioned they were offering 34 LPA but the manager had approved 1 lakh more, asking if I'd accept the lower amount. I requested they offer what the manager approved to avoid delays. I then got a simple email offering 35 LPA CTC with no breakdown of fixed pay or HRA, making it hard to understand the gross pay. The recruiter said they couldn't share the breakup but expected a response to the vague offer. A week later, after the job was reposted, I got a call saying they could offer 36 LPA, but they went silent after that. I accepted another offer. Finally, after 3-4 days, they informed me they went with another candidate. It felt like a waste of time due to their unprofessional behavior, but I recognized their tactics early on. Be aware they might revoke offers, and interviews might be scheduled late if a previous candidate declined. It seems they might conduct interviews after a month because someone they offered didn't join.
- Could you check if a string is a palindrome?
- How would you find the second maximum value in an array?
- Can you explain dependency injection?
