First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Silverchair.
Software Developer
It was a 1:1 interview with a recruiter, where everything was asked very quickly. It was 30 minutes of questions with 10 seconds to answer each. There was a lot of probing about soft skills. They don't give feedback.
- Tell me about your personal experience working under pressure.
- What is your reason for looking for a job?
Software Developer
I had a phone call with the recruiter, and then got an interview invite soon after. We picked a date about a week and a half out. I met with a bunch of people from the team, like technical leads, directors, the scrum master, product folks, a business analyst, and the chief people officer. Each meeting was either 30 minutes or an hour. The whole thing took about 3 hours, with an hour break for lunch with the recruiter. I could take breaks and they showed me around the office. The people interviewing me made it really easy, it felt like a chat the whole time and I learned a lot about how the company works, what they expect, and even some technical stuff about the platform and agile. The first hour was super technical, and the rest of the day was more about culture and the big picture. I got to ask questions for each person I met. It was a really well-organized interview and I knew what was coming next. It was one of the best interviews I've had, and the time spent was just right.
- Can you describe instances where you've applied code refactoring and what your definition of clean code is?
- What are your thoughts on clean code?
Software Developer
The interview process was straightforward and easy to get through. Silverchair didn't present any unexpected challenges, and all the people I met were really friendly. The interviewers asked questions directly related to the job I was applying for and things that were on my resume. It's also really important to Silverchair that you'd be a good fit for their team. I found the whole thing very refreshing compared to other companies I've interviewed with. They were open, honest, friendly, promote, and flexible. I have to mention how great their recruiter was; he's absolutely top-notch. I found the interviews easy because all the questions were fair and relevant. No questions about my spirit animal, thankfully! I have no issues or suggestions for improvement. Looking forward to starting!
