First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Silverchair.
Business Analyst
Silverchair's interview process has a few rounds with various people at the company, from leaders to folks you'd be working with. It usually starts with a recruiter chat, then two more chats with panels of about two employees each. The last one is with PeopleOps, and then you might get an offer. All the interviews feel pretty chill, like a chat between you and the team. It's a chance for everyone in the company to give feedback and for you to see if you're a good fit, just as much as it is for them to see if you're a good fit.
- How would your current teammates describe you and your work style?
- Are you more of a Star Wars or Star Trek person?
Business Analyst
I went through 3 rounds of interviews. First was HR, then the hiring manager/upper management, and lastly the team. HR and the hiring manager focused on team fit and how my background would apply to the job. The team interview was more of a standard situational interview, which was the toughest part but expected. I also had some extra chats to ensure the company was a good fit for me.
- What would you do if you received a final product that did not meet the acceptance criteria?
Business Analyst
I applied online and got a call back from the recruiter to schedule an initial chat. We talked for about 30 mins about the company's core values, culture, and some of the perks. He seemed interested in what I was looking for in a job, plus my skills. Then, he set up a more technical interview with a Product Delivery Manager. This was also a 30-minute call, but focused more on my background and skills, how I work, if I can learn new things, and if I'm a team player. After that, the recruiter called again to set up an in-office interview. It was a 4-hour session that included 3 half-hour interviews with panels of 2 people from different parts of the company, lunch with the recruiter and another Business Analyst, a tour of the office, and a 45-minute interview with the Chief People Officer. It sounds like a lot, but it felt really relaxed, like they genuinely wanted to get to know me. The interviews were more like conversations, and I had plenty of time to ask questions and get a feel for the company. The recruiter, Peter, was great! He made everything feel easy and comfortable, and always told me what to expect next. I left feeling really good about the company and the people.
- What's your preferred method for learning?
- Can you describe how you navigate disagreements when working with a team?
- How do you manage when the project's scope, expectations, or focus shifts rapidly?
