It was a pretty standard interview process: first I spoke with a recruiter, then the hiring manager, and then there were several more interviews with people who would be my potential peers and others in the group. Most of the interviews were heavily focused on the company's culture and were mostly conversational. It was an easy experience overall, but the reason I'm giving it a negative rating is because the entire process took an excessively long time from start to finish. And, like others have mentioned, there was a severe lack of communication from the company about a decision. I think it's reasonable to expect that if you interview with five different people over several weeks, the company would at least communicate a decision, even if it's a rejection. I even reached out twice to ask about the decision, even saying I knew they picked someone else and just wanted some feedback to help me improve. I understand people are busy, but the company really needs to improve how they communicate with candidates who spend hours going through their interview process.

A recruiter reached out to me online about a management opening at SVB. We chatted about my background and they set up an initial Skype call. That went well, and the recruiter then scheduled a phone interview with the hiring manager. The phone interview got rescheduled a few times, but it was pretty relaxed once it happened. We talked about my experience and what they do, and also had a casual chat about our typical work days. The hiring manager seemed happy and said they'd arrange an on-site with the division head. I didn't hear back, so I followed up with the recruiter multiple times but never got a clear answer. A week after I decided it was a dead end, someone from SVB HR contacted me on LinkedIn about the same position. I gave her my details and asked about the previous process. Two weeks later, she said they were still interviewing and would keep me in mind for future roles.
