I had a chat with the store manager, then there was a personality test that I had to do well on. If you pass that, they'll offer you the job. Best time to apply is September when they start hiring for Christmas, and you might even get a permanent position.

I applied for a full-time role at an Ernest Jones store. The whole thing took about two weeks from applying to hearing back. The store manager called me for a quick phone chat first, and mentioned the main interview would be quite long and detailed, so I was ready for it. The actual interview was pretty long, but it was good because the manager asked a lot of 'tell me about a time...' questions which let me talk about my successes. We also just chatted normally for a bit, which made me feel more comfortable and less formal, which was nice. The last part involved a role-play where I had to sell a product. I got a list of items, some out of stock, and a quick brief, and had about 10 minutes to get ready. The goal was to see how I'd sell something and interact with customers. Near the end, they gave me some quick feedback, which was helpful. The whole thing, including the questions, chatting, and role-play, lasted about two hours. I didn't get the job, but they called me to let me know, which was unexpected, and gave me more detailed feedback and said they'd keep my details for other openings. Overall, it was a really positive experience, probably the best interview I've had. Lovely company.

The initial interview process was a test with different scenarios on the internet. A series of situations to which there were 4 different possible responses which you have to grade. I was called the next day and had a telephone interview - why do you want to work at Ernest Jones, what do you expect from customer service and what do you think good customer service is. Interviewer said she would discuss answers with manager and ring me back for a face to face interview if I was successful. The next day received a call for a face to face interview - that included lots of typical interview questions such as ‘describe a time when you....’ there were A LOT of them, followed by a role play exercise. Said that they would discuss answers with manager once again. Following this I got a call the saying they’d like to have me in for a trial shift.
