Read other reviews first. This was a waste of time. A junior interviewer and the tech lead showed up without any introductions or small talk. They just jumped into the questions. They seemed uninterested in my background, which was a red flag. The tech lead was typing and working in the background, not engaging or showing interest in what I was doing. The junior engineer was leading the call, another red flag. When I asked questions about the company, the junior would consult the distant tech lead. This gave me insight into the company culture, where the tech lead was unaware of the whole process. Yikes! A complete waste of time!

I had an initial recruiter call which was with an external recruiter. After that, they scheduled a 1-hour technical screen. They also sent over a prep document to review before the technical interview. It took a couple of weeks to get the technical screen scheduled, but they were otherwise responsive. I got rejected about 2 days after the interview.

Sigma reached out to me online about a Sr. Frontend/Full Stack position. We had an initial 'get to know you' phone chat, and then they sent over a HackerRank test that I found quite bizarre. The challenge, labeled 'Frontend Engineer,' had three questions: the first two were okay, but the third was some wild Dynamic Programming problem with a lot of confusing elements. It's strange because DP isn't typically used by frontend engineers, and it felt like they cared more about finding a CS whiz than someone who could actually do the job. I completed and submitted the test. A few days later, they scheduled another online technical screening using CoderPad with a live interviewer. This was even worse, with a problem description that was a huge block of text and only 30 minutes to solve it. I usually prefer to think before coding, but that wasn't an option here. My code worked but didn't perfectly handle all edge cases. I stayed up until 2 AM to finish the assignment and submitted it. The next day, they informed me they were passing on my application. My advice to Sigma is to clarify their hiring criteria and stop wasting people's time with pointless tasks.
