Business Development Representative
The interview process for the BDR role began in early September and proceeded quickly. I spoke with the team and had great conversations. After the last interview, I got a verbal offer, and they said the written contract would be sent in a few days. But then, things got messy and disorganized. Since there wasn't an internal recruiter, the hiring manager was my only contact. They tried to keep me in the loop but didn't have solid info. The offer approval was stuck with one person who was hard to reach, so no one could give me a timeline for the contract. I was told multiple times that the role was confirmed and I was backfilling it, but weeks went by with no progress or clear answers. The interviews themselves were good, but after the offer, the process lacked openness, organization, and reliable communication. I waited over a month and never got a written contract. I'm sharing this so others know what to expect after an offer.
- Can you describe your approach to prospecting?
- What methods do you use for messaging potential clients?
- Tell me about your cold calling techniques.
Business Development Representative
The interview process was super straightforward. They hit you with the usual questions like 'tell me about yourself' and 'Why Sales'. If you're looking to interview with Sigma Computing, just get ready for the basics. One bad thing about the process though was the communication from the team; it was really hard to get a hold of the hiring manager.
- Why are you interested in Sales?
Business Development Representative
It was a really long interview process, stretching over a month. The first interview went really well, and so did the second project. However, the third and final interview did not go well at all. It was with five people from the team I would have been joining. They seemed very cold and hostile and didn't ask me many questions. I had prepared a great presentation and put a lot of effort into researching, but they showed very little interest while I was speaking. I didn't expect an offer because of their virtual 'body language.' When I asked about compensation, they responded negatively, saying they don't discuss it and that I'd see it if they made an offer, also mentioning they have many applicants. They asked questions like 'Since you did so much research,' in an arrogant way. I realized it wasn't the right place for me, even though I was very interested in tech sales and the company's growth potential. It's unfortunate they missed out.
- Can you share an instance of a time you experienced failure?
- Could you explain your typical sales cadence?
