& Process

This was a multi-stage interview process. First, there was a phone call with the team lead about the role and my background. Then, a Zoom meeting with the team lead and PM, which also covered general information and team culture. The final stage was an on-site interview with the team lead, PM, and two team members. It began with a 10-minute presentation I gave about how one of my past experiences connects with a company core value. This was followed by technical questions and then questions about culture and leadership. Based on feedback and vibes, they seemed happy with my presentation and answers. However, I didn't get the job. The feedback for the time, travel, and preparation was just an automated rejection email, no call. It felt like a waste of time and effort, and I probably wouldn't go through it again with this company.

First, a quick chat with Talent Acquisition to confirm you meet the basic requirements. Then, you'll have a meeting with the VP where they'll ask you some technical and leadership questions. Be ready with your camera on, it's a pretty relaxed and friendly conversation. Finally, there's an in-person panel interview with the VP, a Director, and the Chief Engineer. This one is also casual, with panel questions, and lasts about an hour.

I applied online and got an email for a recruiter phone screen a few hours later. The phone screen was pretty straightforward: tell me about yourself, why do you want this job, do you want to relocate. The call with the hiring manager and team was more of the same with more details about daily role and function. This went well. Now here's the problem: I had told the recruiter I'd be out of the country for a week then had to travel for work immediately after. While I was out of the country the recruiter called and texted me asking for an on-site. The problem is, I had told and reminded them that I'd be away and email was the only way to reach me. A few days pass and I finally get an email about the onsite. We negotiated times/dates and they said they would get back to me. I followed up as soon as I returned and was told they were confirming a few things. It's been 3 months since their last communication and all subsequent emails have been ignored. My application on Workday is still pending and I see that the job posting no longer exists. Awful communication and awful experience being ghosted. The hiring manager and the team I talked to were nice though.
