First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sidley Austin.
Project Assistant
This was one of the most disrespectful and unprofessional interviews I've ever had. They didn't schedule it during my availability and showed up 15 minutes late for our 30-minute chat. They spent the first 5 minutes explaining the job's duties, leaving me only 10 minutes for questions. The questions they asked were all about the negative aspects of the role. I used the last two minutes to ask my own questions, but they couldn't answer them. They said they'd get back to me in a few days, but I never heard from them again.
- Can you tell me about the biggest mistake you've ever made?
- How do you handle working with colleagues you don't get along with?
- Would you be open to working overtime during weekends and nights with little warning?
Project Manager
I had a long interview with senior leadership. They asked a bunch of questions. They really care about who you are as a person, not just your past experience. They want to make sure you'd be a good fit for the team. All in all, it was a good interview.
- How do you manage upwards?
Project Manager
I applied on LinkedIn and HR reached out the next week. They had me do a phone screen and a personality test. After that, I had 5 interviews, each 30 minutes long, with different team members. This was about 5 months ago, and I haven't heard back since.
- Can you discuss your experience with the general project management lifecycle?
- Tell me about your experience managing stakeholders.
- How do you handle communications in a project management setting?
