First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shutterfly.
Senior Quality Engineer
First, I had a phone chat with a recruiter about my background and the job. A week later, I was invited for another phone interview with a senior lead. Within another week, the recruiter emailed me to come to the NYC office for a 3-hour interview. I was scheduled to meet with four people. Two were in the NYC office, but the others were remote. The interviews were in person, but the remote interviewers I'd connect with via Skype. The first three went okay, but the last person wasn't available at the scheduled time. He was supposed to join via Skype. Nobody was really coordinating things, and everyone got busy with their own work. I was left waiting in the room alone for about 15-20 minutes. I asked the front desk to help connect me to the interviewer. One of the interviewers based in NY tried again to reach the remote interviewer. Finally, a remote hiring person spoke with me for about 10 minutes. It was a really bad experience in the end. They shouldn't invite people onsite if they're not serious about the interview.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- Could you explain the general QA process and how defect tracking works?
- What's your experience with automation?
QA Lead
I had 2 phone screens and then 4 in-person interviews. I met the whole QA team and one of the lead devs.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Quality Assurance Engineer
The interview process was really fast. I got a test that included a REST and coding question. After that, I had an HR interview, then spoke with the hiring manager, and finally had an onsite interview with two teams and the manager. I got the results the same day, which was pretty good response time.
- Can you explain OOPS concepts?
- Could you answer a Data Structure question?
- What do you know about Webservices?
