Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SHRM.
Communications
I had 4 interviews total. They were a mix of virtual and in-person meetings. The interviewers were friendly and conversational. They asked straightforward questions about my experience and told me about the company culture. There were no tricky questions.
- What guiding principle resonates most with you, and could you explain why?
Marketing
I talked to HR first, then the hiring manager. Then I met with six other people on the team, all the way up to the CMO.
- Can you tell me about your experience and skills?
Marketing
I saw the job posting on a flexible job site and then got contacted a couple of months later. First, I had a chat with an HR person who wasn't sure about the remote work possibility. She suggested I come in for an interview with the department head to ask her directly. Since I live pretty far away, this was a big deal. The in-person interviews began with the HR person, who was great. Then I met the department head, who seemed to have a bad attitude from the start. We didn't connect, and I didn't ask my questions because she clearly wasn't interested in me.
- How do you collaborate with agencies?
