Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Showpad.
Sales Development Representative
So there were four parts to the interview process: first, a screening call, then an interview with the manager, after that there was an exercise which involved a presentation about how you'd find a prospect and what we could do for them, and finally, a last interview with a more senior staff member.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- What makes you a good candidate for this position?
- Describe a time you encountered a challenging situation.
Sales Development Representative
I applied and then a week later I got a call for a 30 min phone screening. The recruiter was not personable and it was hard to connect. It was a pretty straightforward chat interview but the recruiter lacked enthusiasm and engagement. I felt like I was interviewing her at times because she barely asked me any questions. When I asked about the software, I just got 'yes' or 'no' answers. There was no engagement or interest in me learning more about the company. It was kind of rude and made me feel like it wasn't a good fit during the interview. I have the experience for the role, maybe she felt challenged by the interview I conducted. NOTE TO RECRUITERS: When we interview, we see you as the company's culture and personality because you represent the company. Remember it's a two-way interview and we can always decline to move forward or accept an offer from a company because the recruiter misrepresented it. Shortly after we hung up, she sent an automated email saying I wasn't a good fit. Good luck Showpad.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join Showpad?
Sales Development Representative
After my resume was screened, the VP of Sales reached out to me via email. We had a brief chat about my motivation for pursuing a sales role and specifically for Showpad. Then, they asked me to prepare an argument for selling their product to a Sales Executive. Following this role-play exercise, I was invited to their headquarters for an in-person interview with the VP of Sales. The main focus was on whether I could handle the high volume of leads that needed to be processed. They also inquired about my personal journey and my reasons for seeking a career change. Finally, there was a last round, which was a 20-minute face-to-face meeting. It seemed like they were looking for articulate individuals who were genuinely enthusiastic about their product.
- What motivates you to work in sales, and why are you interested in Showpad specifically?
- Imagine you're selling our product to a Sales Executive. How would you do it?
- Are you equipped to handle a substantial volume of leads?
