First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shiftgig.
Human Resources Generalist
It was a short interview to check basic info, then two more interviews. Pretty fast and easy. They only started asking detailed questions about the job duties and what they want from you in the final interview.
- How would you handle a given situation?
Graphic Designer
I got a message from a recruiter on LinkedIn about a graphic designer job and she set up a phone chat with the marketing lead. She talked a lot and explained the company to me. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview. I was really looking forward to meeting the team! But when I got there, the recruiter wasn't around. I waited in a room for a bit before the marketing lead showed up. She basically repeated what she said on the phone and didn't ask me much about myself. Then, I met two people from her team who were nice and asked good questions. Finally, I met with the head of UX, who said things that didn't match what the marketing lead had told me about what the company needed design-wise. I left feeling pretty unsure. A few days later, I sent a thank-you note to the marketing lead, but I never heard back from her or the recruiter.
- Do you know how to use a CMS?
Brand Ambassador
First, you apply online on shiftgig.com. Then, you wait for an email inviting you to schedule an interview and orientation. After that, you schedule your interview. This can be a video interview (Skype or Facetime) or a face-to-face one at a location they give you. If you get hired, you can download the app and pick shifts that work for you. That way you can work when, where, and for who you want.
- Tell me about your experience in the service industry.
Food Server
Applied online. Then I had a group interview where we talked about our past employers and what we did there. Since there were a lot of us, it was interesting to hear about people from different places and backgrounds and their work experiences.
