The interview process for Shell typically takes 1-2 months, with the exact duration varying by role and other factors. It's a direct application process, no third parties involved. I mentioned my notice period was about 20 days, so I needed an expedited process and an offer before my last day. Shell HR is really nice, confirmed by others. The scheduling is a bit different, handled by a team in the Philippines, which can take time for a global organization. My process had two rounds: 1. Professional Round: A virtual call with a 2-5 person panel (2-3 technical folks, 2 HRs). It's a tough, pure technical round testing your expertise, lasting about an hour. They focus on your approach, not just the exact answer, and were supportive. The technical panelists had 10+ years of experience. 2. Structural Round: A 1-hour round, mixing technical and behavioral aspects. The model here is C.A.R. (Capacity, Achievement, Relationship), and they judge you on these. Don't take this lightly; Shell highly values this round. Failing the technical round means you can retry in 3 months, but failing the structural round requires a 1-year wait. All questions are situational/scenario-based, so answer honestly based on your past IT experience. There were 2-3 panelists.

This was honestly one of the worst interview experiences ever. The people interviewing me seemed to have no clue about what they were asking, and the questions were often incorrect. It felt like they were just making it up as they went along. Interviewers really need to be prepared and know the answers themselves before assessing candidates. The lady gave wrong answers confidently, and the other guy insisted I was wrong even when I knew I was 100% right. They were unprofessional and didn't even let me finish my answers. I suspect they were doing it on purpose, either to reject me or because they already had someone picked. Regardless, interviewers must be knowledgeable. It's not just on the candidate to be professional; the interviewer has a responsibility too.
