Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shea & Company.
Investment Banking Analyst
I applied for this role through my school's job board and got a first round phone interview. It was half behavioral and half technical questions. The interviewer was nice, but I wasn't prepared enough for the technical questions.
- Can you explain how the three financial statements are connected?
- What are the various methods for valuation?
- Can you please guide me through a discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis?
Investment Banking Analyst
First round was a 30 minute chill call. The interviewer was super nice and easy to talk to. It started with a 'walk me through your resume' type of thing and then went into questions specifically about my resume. For the technical part, they asked about different company valuation methods and how to value a pre-revenue company, specifically focusing on multiples like EBITDA, free cash flow, and EV/Revenue. I think they might have asked a basic accounting question too, and definitely 'walk me through a DCF'.
- What methods do you use to determine the value of companies that don't have revenue yet?
Investment Banking Analyst
The overall vibe was pretty chill. It was a one-hour back-to-back interview. They threw in some technical questions, but it was mostly behavioral stuff. The people were easy to chat with. I had one round of interviews, but didn't hear back.
- Why were you interested in Shea&Co?
- Can you explain the three main financial statements?
