First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
Service Manager
It was a thorough and professional interview that lasted about 45 minutes. It was very specific and included a tour after the questions. I was interviewed by the Human Resources Director, who was really interested and engaged even though they had a lot of other interviews that day.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What do you know about our company?
- How do you approach problem-solving?
Management Role
The first interview went well, the hiring manager knew exactly what they were looking for. The final interview was with senior HR people, and I think they just wanted me to know the decision was in my hands. They didn't ask many job-related questions. The interview felt demeaning and like a waste of time. I don't think talented and capable people would stay long because they wouldn't get the respect they deserve. I feel bad for the owner, who is known to be a kind employer.
- What motivates your departure from your present job?
Management Trainee
There are three interview stages. First, an online test with personality and behavioral questions. Then, HR will interview you with a panel of HR execs and the Director of Talent Acquisition. If you pass that, you'll meet with a department head like the Director of Rooms or F&B. Lastly, the GM of the hotel will conduct the final interview.
- What motivates your interest in the hospitality sector?
