Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SGV Marketing.
Account Manager
The first day involves a large group of candidates waiting to be interviewed, with a constant flow of people in and out of the interview room. After the interview, they mention reviewing clients and potentially calling back for a second interview, but this is misleading as most candidates are called back. The second interview is an 'all day' event. It includes shadowing a sales representative doing door-to-door sales, followed by a lunch discussion about career progression and earning potential by selling a specific 'app' (application). The day concludes with a meeting with the manager, who provides positive (often exaggerated) feedback from the trainer before extending a job offer. The entire process is designed to create a sense of accomplishment, even though the offer is extended to nearly everyone, leading to many new hires daily. A drug test is also part of the process, though some employees have mentioned using a coworker's sample.
- Are you motivated by winning, or do you dislike losing?
- Can you share an example of a challenge you faced and how you overcame it?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Account Manager
It was a two-step interview process. First, I had a short meet and greet with an HR Director, lasting about 15-20 minutes. They seemed to be interviewing a lot of people. The second interview was a full-day session with a team leader. They explained the role and asked tough questions, which was great because it gave me a clear picture of the day-to-day responsibilities of an Account Manager at SGV.
- Can you tell me about your goals?
- Describe your experience with teams and leadership.
- What are your views on marketing principles?
Account Manager
After applying online, I got a call for an interview. I went to the interview in the city, but it wasn't for me. I thought it would be one-on-one, but there were a bunch of other people there. It was a short, 15-minute interview and they were pretty vague about what the job entailed. Then, two hours later, I got a call about a second interview, which was supposed to be 8 hours long the next day. I turned it down because it wasn't what I was looking for.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
