Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SGS.
Chemist
The process was well-managed. If selected, they might contact you in 20-25 days with an offer matching the decided scale. Initially, they use a third-party for entry-level roles for freshers.
- Were you asked general questions?
- Were you asked technical questions?
- Did they ask about your projects?
Scientist
After submitting my application, resume, and cover letter, I got a call for an interview. The interview involved three people: HR and two managers. The questions were mostly HR-focused, with very few technical ones. It seemed the managers didn't fully grasp my technical explanations, which was a bit odd. I think being over-qualified might have actually worked in my favor with this employer.
- What are your strengths?
- Can you share an instance where you had to meet a deadline?
- Tell me about your previous work experience.
Senior Scientist
We had an informal chat about the job, then went through my CV and I got a lab tour. No technical questions came up, but we discussed some instruments and the projects I worked on.
- Can you describe a challenging situation you managed?
- Tell me about your resume and past projects.
- Discuss some of the instruments you've worked with.
