First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Severn Trent.
Graduate Engineer
We had a singular assessment centre for the Graduate scheme which included a group task and an individual interview. It was less about technical skills and more about potential and fitting in with company values. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed overall.
- Tell me about a situation where you encountered a challenge and how you resolved it.
Graduate Engineer
The application process was easy. The assessment centre, which was the last step, involved a one-on-one interview and then a group activity. We were told at the end of the day that we'd get a phone call within two weeks with feedback, no matter what. After four weeks with no call, I emailed to check and was told I'd been sent an email two weeks before, which I never got. They supposedly resent it twice but nothing came through and they stopped replying to me. So, I never got official notice of the outcome or any feedback, which was a shame because they seemed really nice and helpful earlier on and even at the assessment centre.
- Tell me about a time you demonstrated courage.
- Can you share an instance where you exhibited a specific company value?
Graduate Engineer
I applied on their website and then had to do some assessments, like psychometric and numerical ones. It was pretty straightforward. After that, I was invited to a virtual assessment centre, and I could pick my own time slot on Zoom.
- What do you consider your greatest strengths?
- Can you share an instance where you stepped outside your comfort zone?
