The interview process started with an aptitude test consisting of 20 questions to be finished in 35 minutes. After passing the aptitude, there was a technical interview which was delayed. The technical interview covered SQL, functional testing, and the developer-to-tester ratio in a project, along with writing queries on employee and department tables. The interviewer was looking for someone who could work independently, despite the lead title. I was asked to stay for a manager round, but the manager was busy. The plan was to arrange a Skype or WhatsApp call instead, and I was allowed to leave. I didn't hear back for four business days. After emailing HR and calling, I was eventually told, two weeks after the interview, that I did not clear the technical interview.

Technical Behavioral

The interview process started with an aptitude test, which felt irrelevant. This was followed by three technical interviews and a final HR round. Many Glassdoor reviews seem accurate regarding the lack of HR or employee care, with a culture focused heavily on work and long hours, including weekends, implying poor work-life balance. The company justified this by stating they are a startup and productivity relies on hard work and dedication, though this overlooks the importance of a proper environment and personal time for employee effectiveness.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Can you elaborate on optimizing performance, given the context of our startup culture?
  • What are your views on security in relation to performance optimization, especially considering our demanding work environment?
  • Regarding the feedback on Glassdoor, how do you perceive our startup's work ethic, which includes working hard and over the weekends?

The process was pretty straightforward. There was a screening round which was an aptitude test, followed by a 45-minute round with a Sr. SDE focusing on domain fundamentals. Then there was a 60-minute round with a panel of 3 interviewers who went through my entire experience. After that, there was a CTO round, and finally an HR round. The interviews were conducted in a timely manner, and most of the technical folks were friendly and conducted great interviews. The only issue was that even though I did well in all technical rounds, I never heard back, not even a rejection. My HR conversation was strange, with the HR person calling my career 'unstable', which is funny because some of my job changes were beyond my control, and I'm not that experienced yet, so I don't know what stability they expect or how I could have prevented things like layoffs or company closures.
