SetSchedule Interview Questions
& Process

Applied and got an email a few days later to schedule an on-site. First had to do a personality test and an aptitude test with HR. Then had a 1 on 1 with the COO. He asked about my product knowledge and how I'd improve the app, and my thoughts as a designer. He also mentioned future benefits. Got a take-home design test that they emphasized was difficult and that many people don't take. I did it and sent in a redesign of app features for iPhone and Android, plus a 600-word statement on why I wanted to join. The HR person said he'd forward it. Got rejected a few days later, and then saw my ideas implemented about a month later. Did some digging and found out about the CEO's scandals and that the interviewer was his wife. I'd recommend doing your research if you're serious about this company. I put watermarks on my work just in case, as I was already skeptical. Honestly, the interview felt like a waste of time. They asked a lot of probing questions about improving their product and could be condescending, especially to less experienced designers. They call it a UI Designer role but expect a full-stack designer capable of web design, UI/UX, and video animation.

I applied online and the whole thing took about a week. I interviewed at SetSchedule (Irvine, CA) back in January 2018. I liked that they stayed in touch. It was a good process. When I first applied, I took three assessment tests, and then had a phone screen. The HR person was really nice and asked if I had a lot of interviews and gave me some tips for the next round. Then I was invited for an in-person interview where we talked about my experiences using behavioral questions. The HR person mentioned they had a lot of applicants, over 450, and some who applied earlier were further along. A few days later, like others mentioned, I was told the position was on hold because they made an offer. They were nice enough not to waste my time and kept me updated. A few days after that, they let me know the position was filled. Even though I didn't get the job, I really appreciated them keeping me in the loop.

super fast process. More steps however, than the average sales job. Liked that they broke down pay and commissions before they wasted my time with an assessment. Average salaries of 75k seem to be varied on several websites. Takes about 2 months, to start to build your pipeline. They seem legit and come off as by the book. Everyone there seemed happy to be there. They won top work places and from what I see it looks like a good environment to work.

The interview with Setschedule was pretty thorough. They discussed the position, covering both the good and bad points, and let me ask my questions. A few concerns I had were addressed in a positive way. By the end, they seemed really open and talked about the company's changes and what they expect for this new role. I'm excited about it and think it'll be a great place to challenge my skills and feel like I'm contributing.
