Interviewed for marketing roles. Very conversational, positive HR interviews. I was moved forward, however never heard back after following up. Roles seem to be reposted 2-3x making me wonder if these openings are real...

The interview process was pretty standard. First, there was a phone call with HR. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager. There was a bit of a gap between the calls because the manager was away for a while, but they kept me in the loop.

The whole thing took over 3 months from when I first applied. I get that COVID is going on, but honestly, the recruitment process wasn't the best. It started with a recruiter phone screen, just basic fit questions. The initial salary they offered was way too low, though they hinted they might pay more for remote folks. Then I had a phone screen with the hiring manager, which was good because they asked more detailed questions about the role itself. I even sent over a work sample to show what I can do, which I know isn't something everyone does for this kind of job. Weeks later, there were video screens with the team. But they're not great with Teams – I always got my video set up, but it only worked for one out of three interviews. Super annoying since I'd probably get blamed for not being seen. It was radio silence for almost 4 weeks after that. I got an offer from another big company, so I asked ServiceMaster if they could match it. They kept stalling, and I bet they're still wasting money hiring for this position. Look, when a candidate tells you they have another offer and contacts you, they want you to compete and win it, otherwise they wouldn't even bother. Not surprisingly, they're still advertising the role and burning cash on recruitment, not to mention the huge opportunity cost. But hey, that's what you expect from a big company.

I found this job on Indeed and got an automated email to fill out a questionnaire. After I sent that back, I got a call a couple weeks later for a phone screening. Then, I was scheduled for an in-person interview later that same week. I met with the Branch Manager and it seemed to go pretty well. They explained the job and asked how my past experience would fit, my salary expectations, and said the next interview would be with the owner's daughter. I followed up a week later but never heard back. Honestly, I think if you take the time to prep for an interview, the company should at least respond.
