Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Service Corporation International.
Sales
I was at a job fair in downtown Toronto and spoke with someone who told me about the company's history. Then, I was directed to meet with the Sales Manager. He interviewed me himself and asked me some questions.
- Tell me about a person you admire.
- What personal attribute do you think would be most beneficial in this role?
- Describe your career aspirations for the next three years.
Sales Professional
The interviewer was very upfront about what they needed and what the job would be like. The role involves getting your life insurance license so you can help families who are grieving plan for their funeral by selling them policies. It seemed to make sense. The job really requires good people skills, a lot of compassion and empathy, and the ability to listen well to figure out what the clients need.
- Are you willing to network and be organized?
- You will need to make lots of cold calls but you will get lots of clients referred to you.
Inside Sales Representative
They don't tell you anything about how you are paid or when you are paid. Commission only and must be available 365 days a year. Also not one of your friends wants to talk about dying at cocktail parties since that's where you are getting most of your own leads.
- How do you deal with a difficult day emotionally?
