First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sephora.
Cashier
I applied on indeed, and the HR team did the initial screening. They called me first to check if I was still interested. Then, they invited me to the store for a group interview, where we were split into small groups of about 5-6 people.
- Introduce yourself.
- How would you respond in a given scenario?
- Can you share an example of how you dealt with a challenging customer?
Cashier
The interview took place right outside the store. We chatted about my past experience with handling cash and what I did in school. We also discussed my customer service experience. The conversation included possible work hours and my hobbies. The interviewer was very friendly, and we even delved into our hobbies and passions.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to deal with a difficult customer and how you managed it?
Cashier
I'm not sure what happened, but I don't think they're going to hire me. I've got a pretty good resume, and I was in my late 20s and mixed race at the time. I walked into a room that looked kind of disorganized, like it was just someone's office with walls put up around it. The interviewer looked at me like I was stupid. I was running a bit late because I was coming from Sephora downtown, and maybe that was the issue. I felt judged, and honestly, I wouldn't want to work with the lady who interviewed me. I shop at Ulta now though.
