First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sephora.
Operations Lead
After they reviewed my resume, I got a 15-minute phone call. The person I spoke with was really nice and explained the hiring process. About a week later, I got a call to confirm I was selected for a group interview in-store. I thought the interview was nice but not really fitting for my type of role. The questions were easy and focused mainly on sales. The interview had 3 parts: questions, a company presentation, and a role-playing exercise. When I asked a question to the interviewer, they didn't seem to understand and avoided answering.
- What did you like most and least about your previous job?
Operations Lead
I filled out an application and then had a pretty informal chat with the store manager. They asked me about my past work experience and what I could contribute to the team. I was asked to share examples of times I faced challenges or achieved success in previous roles. Since some former colleagues recommended me, I think the manager already knew a good bit about my skills. I heard back about a week later and accepted the job.
- What would be your approach to resolving a conflict between a customer and a team member?
Operations Manager
The HR department was really disorganized and unprofessional. They called me three times to reschedule, and one of those times was as I was already on my way. When I got there, I had to wait 20 minutes because the HR person was overloaded, and then they told me the interview had to be cut short because of a conference call. Two of the interviewers kept looking at their phones during the interview, and one even took a call. In my 20+ years of experience, I've never seen such a disorganized HR department or such inconsiderate managers. It doesn't seem like a place I'd want to work, especially since they talked about employee engagement but didn't seem to know how to treat a candidate.
