First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sentinel.
Server Administrator
I applied online through LinkedIn and got an email to set up an initial call. The phone interview started out pretty basic, covering the job and my experience. Things got a bit awkward when the recruiter couldn't provide details on benefits or if there was an on-call rotation. When I felt the role wasn't a good fit, the recruiter became rude, implying I was backing out due to my salary expectations not matching the pay range, even though my current salary is in the middle of that range. It was a very rude and unexpected experience. I wouldn't recommend Sentinel. It's better to contact the company directly.
- What's prompting your job search?
- Are you comfortable with a dynamic, "all hands on deck" situation, where you might need to immediately attend to a CIO or CEO's needs?
Product Manager
The interview process focused heavily on a deep technical understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including threat detection, AI/ML applications, endpoint security, and cloud infrastructure. They also placed significant emphasis on product thinking, specifically how it applies to designing, enhancing, and strategically positioning security products. Additionally, they assessed the candidate's ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as engineering, data science, sales, and customers.
- Can you share details about your previous work experience?
Administrative Assistant
I applied online and a recruiter called me. I then took some quick typing and proofreading tests. After that, I had an interview with the manager, which went okay. Then, I had to wait for about an hour to meet with the head of HR. The HR person seemed uninterested and unprepared, not even looking at my resume. It felt like I wasn't even being considered, but they still made me wait. Months later, I never heard back about whether the job was filled. It was really unprofessional.
- Can you explain why you believe you are a suitable candidate for this position?
Solutions Architect
The interview process was great. The recruiter was good. I accepted the offer. I had already booked my apartment and movers to relocate my family. I even gave notice to my current employer. But then HR suddenly declined my offer because they wouldn't answer my question about relocation reimbursement. Luckily, my employer was fine with me staying. The HR people at Sentinel were heartless and not human at all. I'm glad I didn't end up working for a company like that.
