I had a phone call with HR. They asked me some basic stuff about my background and skills, but nothing too crazy. I didn't really feel like the person was listening to me; it was mostly them talking about the company, so I barely got to talk about myself or ask about the job. They said I'd hear back by the end of the week, but it took two weeks, and then I got an automated email saying I didn't get the job. I thought that was pretty wild, especially since I was way overqualified. The funny thing is, I asked what makes someone successful in this role, and they basically told me two of the things I just said were my biggest strengths. It's super weird not to get a second interview with the person I'd actually be working for. And for a senior role like this, waiting over a week past the promised date and then sending an automated rejection felt really unprofessional.

Behavioral Technical Case

I was first contacted by a recruiter for a phone interview that lasted about 30 minutes. They asked me to go through my past job experiences, including how I found the opportunity and why I was chosen. Then, I had a video interview with a partner, which was very conversational. The third round involved meeting two experienced associates and a manager. The manager's part felt more like a traditional interview where I reviewed my resume. The associates were very friendly. The entire process has taken two months so far, and I haven't received a result yet. HR mentioned that the tax busy season is causing delays.

Behavioral Technical Other

Met a campus recruiter at a job fair, they were super nice and answered all my questions. They gave me an email for a newer employee to ask about the work atmosphere. After applying online, I had a phone call with another recruiter, then a Zoom meeting with an audit manager, a senior audit manager, and a partner. It felt more like chatting at an office mixer than interviews. When I got my offer and had questions the recruiter couldn't answer, they connected me with the partner I interviewed with. The partner called to discuss the offer, answered all my questions, and talked about my long-term career goals. It was a great process.

Behavioral

I had a standard phone screen with the recruiter. They told me about the company and asked why I wanted to leave my current job. Then, they asked about my background. I thought my experience was a good fit for the job description, but the recruiter didn't seem interested at all. After I finished talking, the recruiter just said 'okay...thank you for telling me....what I can do is I'll pass along your resume with my notes to the hiring manager.' No other questions were asked. From the beginning of the call, I felt the recruiter was uninterested, which was disappointing because I was really excited about the company.
