First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Seneca Family of Agencies.
Program Assistant
It started with a quick 10-15 minute phone chat to go over the job duties and perks, and then I got an invite for a group interview happening in the next week. At the group interview, there were five other people applying, not all for the same job, and just one interviewer. He threw out a bunch of situational questions that could apply to office stuff, case work, or field work. It felt pretty chill and like a regular chat. By the end, the interviewer laid out the exact responsibilities for each job opening that any of us could be considered for and had us fill out a form ranking our top position choices. About 10 days after that first interview, I got an email for a second round interview and a skills test, but I decided not to go. It was pretty obvious by then that the job I initially applied for had changed a lot, and I didn't really have the interest or the right skills anymore to keep going with it.
- Can you tell me about a time you felt uneasy at work, and how you dealt with it?
Program Assistant
It was a group interview. The HR recruiter knew a lot about the company and told us what they do. There were 5 of us interviewing. For every question, each of us answered. The interview was easy because the recruiter made us feel comfortable. We had to talk about ourselves, and there were some situational and behavioral questions. If you're prepared, you'll do fine. Within 4 days, I got a call for a computer test (Entry Level Word and Excel). A week after the test, I called to check the status and was told I'd know by the end of the day. I got an email that evening saying no offer.
- In a stressful situation, how would you manage?
Program Assistant
It started with a group interview with about 5-6 applicants and a hiring manager in a roundtable. It's important to be friendly and relaxed with the other applicants. Next, there's a very basic computer skills test covering Microsoft Word and basic Excel. The final stage is a one-on-one interview with a counselor or another higher-up. They really seem committed to creating a safe, friendly work environment, so showing you understand that and can handle the pressure of the center is key.
- What are your ideas for improving this office?
