& Process

The interview process kicked off with a recruiter call where they shared company and role details, and asked some behavioral questions. This was followed by a technical interview with a Staff engineer from the US, covering coding and Object-Oriented Design (OOD). Next, a system design round took place with a VP from Pakistan, which included some extra requirements. Then came a in-depth technical and behavioral discussion with a Principal engineer in the US; this one ran over by 30 minutes. Another technical and behavioral chat was held with the CTO in the US. After a week of no communication, I followed up via email and heard back that the feedback was positive, leading to a call about salary expectations and references. Ten days later, an email arrived from a different recruiter stating strong feedback and excitement to move forward, but they wanted me to interview with the Director of Engineering in Ireland. I agreed, and had a call with the person from Ireland discussing past work and technical specifics, which went well. After another week with no response, I emailed again. A week after that, I finally emailed the recruiter expressing disappointment about being ghosted, especially from a company establishing a Dublin office. I got a reply that my candidacy would be discussed with the CTO, and then silence again. It felt very unprofessional, a waste of time, and made me question their commitment to the Irish engineering team.

I interviewed for the Sr. Software Engineering position at Dublin (Ireland) office. The process took about three weeks and was pretty standard: the call with a recruiter, programming and design interviews and a few behavioral interviews with the director of engineering and CTO. Everyone was friendly and provided very detailed answers to all of my questions about short and long term company goals. People seem very inspired by the product and technology. Also, the interview feedback was instantaneous and thorough, and I was receiving responses within a couple of days from the interview.

The process started with a recruiter chat to see if it was a good overall fit. Then I had a technical interview with what seemed like an LC easy problem. After passing that, there was an onsite with several people from the org. The conversations there felt good and flowed well, mostly focusing on team fit and a system design problem about a communication platform. I was expecting some follow-up on whether I passed or failed, but it's been months with no word. The interviews themselves were pretty fun, but the silence at the end was a bit of a downer.
