Software Engineer
I talked to a recruiter at a career fair and they sent me an email to schedule a technical interview. Then I had a technical screen interview, and heard back from the recruiter the next day.
- Tell me about the LeetCode two sum question.
- How do you use arrays?
Software Engineer
The interview process was great and took just over a week. A friend referred me, and since I had another offer pending, they were keen to get me in. First, I did a 4-5 hour online coding challenge in Angular. They responded within a day or two and we scheduled an onsite interview for later that week. The onsite included a 15-minute chat with the head recruiter (got a goodie bag!), a 1-hour lunch with a co-founder and two Android engineers, four 45-minute technical/behavioral interviews with engineers and a product manager, and a final 45-minute technical interview with another co-founder. I really liked the team and the office is pretty cool. The time was split between technical problem-solving, discussing past team/project experience, and them answering my questions about the product and team. They gave me feedback afterward, which was appreciated. Ultimately, they felt I didn't have enough back-end experience.
- Can you design a data structure that handles specific run times for operations like Add-Front, Find, Delete, and Add-Middle?
- How would you approach designing a translation button, covering aspects like the API, component placement, using the Google API, and configuring default selections in the language dropdown?
- Explain your design for an Instagram news feed, focusing on real-time updates, how pagination would work, and the API/Rest calls needed to serve content to the web page.
Software Engineer
Recruiter gave a welcome intro which seemed promising, so I agreed to a take-home exercise. I spent about 2 hours on it, but then the recruiter completely ghosted me and never responded to my emails. Given my 15+ years of experience, I've never encountered such an unprofessional and rude company. I truly believe this company is a scam, so don't waste any time with them.
- A take-home exercise involving real-world problems.
