Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SEEK.
Senior Product Manager
I went through 4 tough interviews, and after the last one, they verbally offered me the job. But then the process stalled, and they ghosted me without even telling me they changed their minds, after giving me a bunch of excuses.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Associate Product Manager
Applied and was contacted within two weeks. The first interview was on Zoom with HR. The second interview was also on Zoom with three SEEK staff: the HR rep, the Product Owner, and the Lead Developer. The third interview was a 30-minute presentation to a panel of six people. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job as it went to an internal candidate.
- Can you tell me about a work achievement you're particularly proud of?
Product Manager
The interview process involved six interviews, three reference checks, and psychometric testing, all taking place over three weeks. I met with line managers, employees at the same level, and senior HR members. A tip for HR: provide clear and consistent feedback. Several times during the process, the feedback I received didn't align with the reality of the next interview. For example, I was given the SEEK Values and asked to prepare examples for each, but the interview questions never touched on these values. I found this misleading and a waste of my preparation time. Regarding body language, given the company's reputation for cultural fit, I was surprised when HR consistently shook their heads 'no' during interviews. This was off-putting and didn't foster a comfortable candidate environment. More transparency is needed. I wasn't the preferred candidate throughout, and although I sensed it, HR kept giving me positive feedback and advancing me. This would have been acceptable if the process was short, but it spanned several weekends and weeknights, making me feel my time wasn't valued.
- What aspects of your current role do you find appealing?
- Can you describe a situation where you contributed to a project but didn't receive recognition for it?
