So I had a phone interview with Secure 24, they told me the job pays $35/hour and is 12 hour shifts, 3 days a week. I've got two AAS degrees (Computer Info Systems & Cyber Security) and a bunch of certs (Microsoft Office 10, CCNA, Security+, Network+, A+). When I went in, they said the shifts are actually 8 hours and change weekly, with school months posted ahead. They asked about 10-15 questions, mostly networking stuff, a bit harder than entry-level. The manager talked benefits (which were really good), scheduling, and my start date. I thought I had it in the bag. Then he asked my salary expectations, and I said $20/hour or more since they mentioned $35 on the phone. He wrote that down. He said I'd hear back in 3 days, but it's been over a week. They're hiring a lot of people, like dozens. Turns out the job doesn't pay $35/hour at all, it's actually $15/hour. That's kinda insulting with my qualifications.

A recruiter from Secure 24 called me for an initial phone chat to see if we clicked and if I was into the job. They hit me with some really basic IT questions, like, 'You know DNS or HTTP, right?' and 'Active Directory, familiar with it?'. After that call, I went to their Southfield office for an on-site with one of the Technical Support Managers. The questions there were pretty much the same vibe. 'Explain DNS to your grandma?', 'What if someone calls saying their computer is slow, how do you help?', 'Dealing with angry customers, how's that go?'. They said someone would call within two weeks, but the recruiter actually called me back in just two hours. Secure 24 wanted to offer me the job as a Bilingual Technical Support Rep. I took it, but mentioned I had a felony conviction from 9 years ago. After that, Secure 24 just ghosted me. No offer rescinded, nothing. They just went dark and ignored all my attempts to reach them.

First, there was a phone call with the secretary where they asked a bunch of unexpected questions to check my knowledge. Then, they had me come in for a face-to-face meeting with one or more of the call center supervisors. They were friendly, but they had a really tough and professional demeanor.
