The Sears hiring journey usually starts with you applying online, giving your details, past jobs, and when you can work. If they think you're a good fit, a recruiter or manager will usually call or email you. They'll chat about your schedule, what you want to earn, and your experience. Then, you'll likely have an in-person or video interview where they might ask about customer service or how you handle different situations. For some jobs, you might do a quick test to see if you fit in or have the right skills. After that, they'll probably do a background check and might call your references. Depending on the job and where it is, they might also want a drug test before making you an offer. Once all checks are clear, they'll offer you the job. If you accept, you'll go through orientation and training to get you ready for the role.

Behavioral Other

It was pretty straightforward. First, there was a phone call, and then I heard back within about a week. Following that, I had two more interviews in person, and then they extended an offer. The whole process took around 3.5 weeks from start to finish. Definitely keep an eye on your voicemail, because I was expecting an email but they actually called.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

I sent in my application online, which was really long. They asked for references upfront, which I don't love, but they didn't end up calling mine. After a few weeks, I got a call to schedule a pre-screen phone interview that was supposed to be 45-60 minutes but went a bit longer. The recruiter gave a lot of info about the company and role and asked me a bunch of questions. Then, I got a lengthy take-home personality/skill test with 100 questions, including judgment scenarios and some math problems based on mock reports that were a little unclear. The next step was a 2-hour in-office session. It started with a case review where I had 25 minutes to assess a data packet, followed by managers asking questions about my assessment. After that, there was a panel interview that felt more like they asked about six situational questions rather than getting to know me. I asked them questions too. They called the next day saying they liked me but needed to finish internal interviews and I'd hear back by Wednesday. When Wednesday passed, I followed up on Friday and was told a decision was supposed to be made that day, but it wasn't. The following Wednesday, they called to say no one was hired, which was a surprise after the whole process.

  • The main difficulty with the in-office case review was the tight time limit for analyzing the data and forming an assessment.
