First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores.
Merchandise Processor
It'll start with a basic interview covering your background, skills, and experience. You'll get a tour of the place and see the different departments and what they do day-to-day. They might ask questions related to specific departments like shipping or receiving. They may subtly inquire about your learning ability, leadership potential, and work ethic.
- Can you tell me about your experience working in a warehouse setting?
Sales Associate
It was a pretty standard interview process with about four or five questions, mostly about my experience. The hiring manager was the only person I spoke with and they were very nice. They were upfront about the company potentially shutting down soon, so they mentioned that the role might not be available for long. Even so, they did extend an offer.
- Can you tell me about your retail work experience?
Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward, but it felt like there were too many interviewers involved, and they all had differing views on the company. It seemed like they were looking for candidates who possessed a wide range of knowledge but not necessarily the specific skills required for the role.
- What are your long-term career aspirations for the next five years?
- Could you elaborate on your qualifications and how they align with this position?
Backroom Associate
The interview was pretty chill, mostly focused on your experience. Basically, if you can prove you're alive, have a clean record, and aren't a mess appearance-wise, you're pretty much hired. It wasn't intense at all. If you need some cash and don't have tons of experience, and really don't want to sling burgers, it's not a tough gig to land.
- Do you have prior warehouse work experience?
