Digital Marketing Specialist
So the first round was a group session. It was me and three other candidates on Zoom. The HR person and the CEO talked about the company's background and values, then they asked us questions. It felt pretty stressful but everyone was nice.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- What accomplishment are you most proud of?
- Tell me about a time you showed great problem-solving skills.
Public Relations and Marketing Manager
I applied online. About a week later, I had a phone interview with the HR Manager. Two weeks after that, I was invited for an in-person interview with the CEO and HR Manager, which was scheduled for two weeks later. They had to reschedule it to a day earlier due to something coming up on their end. The interview ended up being with the CEO and his wife, the COO. It started with them laying out cards with their company's MO (values: CHARGED - Collaborative, Hungry, Agile, Reliable, Genuine, Effective, Dedicated) and asking me to pick the one that best described me. I'm not sure if there's a right answer, but the interview felt like a quiz at times. They seem to have a specific interviewing method and look for certain responses rather than just evaluating a candidate on their own merits. About two weeks later, I got an email saying I didn't get the job, which I appreciated since some companies don't inform you. The entire process took around two months.
- Which of the company's CHARGED values (Collaborative, Hungry, Agile, Reliable, Genuine, Effective, Dedicated) do you feel best represents you?
Marketing Associate
The office seemed cool and hip. I had a first group interview, then waited around in a glass room. After ten minutes, I was led to the interview. It was standard questions with different people. A week later, I got an email for a second round in three weeks, making it a 4-week process. I knew I had an editing test. Again, I waited 15 minutes past the start time in the glass room with no one acknowledging me. The editing test was three questions, fixing a story's errors. I took the full 45 minutes. After finishing, I waited another 20 minutes for the interview. Two people asked me tons of questions, including a detailed summary of my resume and life. It felt unnecessary and I repeated myself a lot. After two hours, I asked about salary: $11/hour. They said they'd get back to me in 2 weeks, making it a 2-month process. I had already accepted a better job by the time I got their rejection email, which was blunt. I told them I wasn't looking for marketing, but it's technically a marketing job selling SEO through editing. The job involves pulling assignments randomly from a hat and doing them. It was a horrible, drawn-out process. Don't waste your time.
- Can you walk me through your resume, detailing your experience from the beginning until now?
- In what ways do you believe your previous work experiences will be beneficial in this position?
Editorial Associate
After I applied online, I was invited to interview. The first step was a group interview where we all took turns answering a question. Then, I had a one-on-one interview with two people. It felt more like a conversation, but they still asked me interview questions directly. After that, I had to do a writing and editing test, which involved writing short paragraphs for fake companies and fixing grammar, spelling, and structure in short articles. I heard there were about 100 applicants, 15 made it to the first interview round, and 5 got to the second round.
- Which of the company's values do you consider the most crucial?
