Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Seagate Technology.
Supply Chain Intern
It was a casual chat with a director and manager. We talked about my background, my leadership style, challenges I've faced, and my future plans. They also shared their expectations.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a difficult colleague?
- What's a time you had to work with someone difficult?
Supply Chain Planner
I applied online and a recruiter reached out. We scheduled a phone interview. I thought it would be a standard recruiter screen with questions about my interest and background, and basic eligibility checks like work authorization and past employment. However, the recruiter immediately asked about my current salary and my expectations for leaving my current role. Despite my attempts to avoid the topic, their persistent demand for this information before I could even speak to the hiring manager led me to withdraw my application. Only then did they reveal the offered salary, stating it was non-negotiable and significantly lower than my current pay, confirming it would have been a waste of time to proceed.
- Could you share your current salary expectations?
- What salary would prompt you to leave your current position?
Supply Chain Analyst
Had one phone call with a recruiter where they asked me technical questions about my experience with business intelligence programs. After that, I went to their headquarters for two in-person interviews, one with each of the department managers, and then one with the director. The interviews were mostly soft questions, but they really wanted to know about my technical program experience (SQL, Business Objects, etc).
- Can you describe your experience using SQL?
