Process Engineer
So, there were 3 interview stages in total. The first one was online and pretty short, like 15-25 minutes, and they only asked 2 questions. The second stage was also online and focused on my overall experience and how it fits with the job. The last one was in person and involved technical questions specific to a process engineering role.
- Can you tell me about your problem-solving skills?
- Describe your experience and how it relates to this position.
- We will be asking technical questions relevant to process engineering.
Process Engineer
I was asked to do some reasoning tests first and I passed them. After that, I was invited for an interview. The atmosphere was nice and comfy, and the interviewers were super friendly and welcoming. It felt more like a casual chat than a formal interview. They asked general questions since the role is for an intern. It was my first-ever professional interview and I was expecting it to be totally different, but honestly, the interviews were fun and engaging, and we had some really good and productive discussions.
- Can you describe a time you managed something?
- What's your knowledge about Seagate?
- In what ways can your degree be beneficial for this role, considering you're a chemeng student?
Process Engineer
The interview process was really uncoordinated. It took over 6 months from the phone interview to the onsite, mainly because HR kept rescheduling due to Seagate's internal scheduling issues. I emailed for months, thinking Seagate had bad recruiting, and it was insulting when HR and the Hiring Manager ghosted me. But after 6 months, HR emailed asking if I was still interested in the technical role. I said yes, wanting to see their Fremont Research Center. It was supposed to be 1-on-1 interviews with 6 people for 30-45 mins each, but at the last minute, they decided to do it all within an hour. It was one of the most inexperienced interview processes I've been through. Reading reviews about Seagate, I'm not surprised they treat potential employees poorly, like they don't value our time or planning. They only schedule things when it's convenient for them.
- Can you explain what CMP is?
- Which process control variables would you prioritize to ensure uniformity?
- Tell me about SPC.
