Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Seagate Technology.
Analyst
There were two technical rounds. The first one covered core Java, OOPS, and some DBMS questions. The second round focused on DBMS, SQL, and MySQL. Both interviews had two interviewers who were very supportive. Each interview lasted about 30 minutes. The entire process was very fast.
- OOPS concepts in Core Java
- SQL queries such as finding the second highest, Joins, count, sum, etc.
Senior Analyst
HR called me to explain the job and set up an interview. Then I did a tech round over the phone from Singapore. After that, we did salary negotiations. I inquired about accommodation, but the company stated it wasn't provided per their policy. However, I was offered a 1-month joining bonus.
- Can you answer standard Java questions about Collections?
- Do you have knowledge of some J2EE questions?
- Are you able to answer my domain-related technical questions?
Analyst
The interview process was terrible overall. I went through five phone/skype interviews over three weeks, which was a significant time commitment. After not hearing back for a week, I followed up with the hiring manager but was ignored. I then waited another week and contacted HR, who finally informed me they were still looking. While I understand I wasn't a fit, it would have been courteous to receive a timely update without me having to chase multiple people.
- The interview questions were typical behavioral style.
