Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Screenvision.
Account Executive
My initial contact was with HR, and they were pretty professional, asking typical screening questions. After that, you'd interview with the associate director or director of the area, and possibly the VP via phone. The associate director and director interviews are one-on-one. From what I could tell, they're looking for candidates under 40, preferably with media sales experience, and ideally from TV. They didn't state this directly, of course, but it was pretty obvious. The office itself was mediocre. The director I spoke with was too over-the-top – loud tone, mannerisms, and jokes – which was off-putting. The associate director was rather snotty and carried a self-important air, also off-putting. There didn't seem to be much cohesion, and it didn't feel like a team I'd want to join. I'm not sure about other regions, but they didn't speak highly of them, so I'd be cautious.
- Can you tell me about a time you had to overcome a sales objection, and explain how you did it?
- For example, what would you respond if a prospect said they needed to discuss it with their spouse?
Account Executive
The interview process included a phone interview, followed by an in-person meeting at a restaurant or cafe. I met with my potential manager there and we went over the usual questions. It was hard to tell how it went, but even though it seemed to go well, and after I sent several thank you notes and asked follow-up questions to show my interest, I didn't hear back for several weeks. It was a long process that honestly could have been made much faster.
- Can you discuss your professional experience?
- What would you consider your most significant career achievements?
- Could you share what you consider to be your biggest weakness?
Account Executive
I had a phone interview with the recruiter, and then I met face-to-face with a local manager and the regional manager. They were both really knowledgeable and friendly. They asked me a lot of questions and took the time to learn about me and what I want to achieve.
- How do you handle objections?
