I was sent a link to download the HireVue app by Scots. After downloading it, I got to practice using the software. Once I felt ready, I recorded my interview. Scots asked me six questions and the interview lasted about 20 minutes. I really hated using HireVue. I think it's way better to talk to a person directly. You can't even ask for clarification on questions. Even if I had passed this stage, I would think twice about taking a job with a company that screens candidates this way. It feels really impersonal and makes it seem like Scots doesn't care about its employees.

I applied online, then got an invite for an online quiz. After that, I was invited to a phone chat where I got to pick the date and time. They called exactly on time, which was nice. Scotts kept me updated on my status and sent surveys about the process. The phone interview went well, and then I met with the Sales Manager in person. This part included a store visit to show my merchandising and sales skills. I got the job offer about a week later. The sales managers were really clear about the job and what they expected. Even though they sell fertilizer and grass seed, they have an entrepreneurial spirit and strong company values.

The interview was pretty laid back and simple. They talked a lot about the job duties and the company culture, and the hiring manager was really nice. Since it was an internship, I went through a staffing agency. They had me complete a background check, some forms, and a urine test.
