First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ScottishPower.
Mechanical Engineer
Applied online and had some competency questions like 'tell me about a time you showed leadership'. Then there were online exams which included numerical and verbal reasoning tests. After that, I had an interview with two people from a technical background. It was very technical, focusing on technical questions. They did help me out when I didn't know something, guiding me towards the answer.
- Can you explain how a CCGT plant operates?
- Describe how you would handle a given situation.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Mechanical Engineer
Started with an online application, which was pretty standard for a mechanical graduate role and took a few hours to complete. Then there were online assessments for numerical and inductive reasoning. After that, I had a telephone interview, and then an assessment centre.
- Can you explain your interest in Scottish Power?
- Describe a situation where you were part of a team and performed well.
- Share an instance where you had to adapt your strategy to finish a task.
Mechanical Engineer
It was a pretty standard phone interview. They asked some competency-based questions like describing a time I showed flexibility and had to change my approach. Also, they asked what I knew about the business I was applying to and about general company operations.
- Can you describe and explain some core elements of Electricity production and key points of the Network, such as Transformers and Voltage Values?
- Can you describe and explain Mechanical Questions relating to Pipes?
