First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Scotlynn.
Freight Broker
It was surprising to get a recruiter call even though I had already passed that stage with a hiring manager. My conversation with the hiring manager was great; they wanted to add auto transport to my responsibilities and seemed to understand the role well, asking good questions and showing interest in moving forward. They mentioned they'd speak with another manager and follow up. However, the recruiter seemed clueless about the position and couldn't answer basic questions. She also didn't know I'd already interviewed with the hiring manager who wanted to proceed. With 15 years of freight brokering experience and lots of positive reviews, I felt the recruiter disliked me, maybe due to ageism. The lack of communication made the process feel disorganized and unprofessional, unlike the hiring manager's approach. It's baffling, especially since I know people there with zero experience.
- Were the questions asked more about my personal life than the job itself?
Account Manager
It was three rounds total. First, I had a virtual chat with a recruiter. Then, a virtual chat with a Sales Team Captain. Lastly, an onsite interview which included a shadow session, a tour, and an interview with the General Manager. The whole process moved super fast and the recruiters were helpful, giving me coaching and feedback along the way so I felt ready for each call.
- Which qualities of successful sales professionals do you possess?
Logistics Coordinator
I applied and got a 15-minute phone interview. The interviewer was nice and friendly. They asked general questions about why I want to work there, my phone communication experience, and my organization and time management skills.
- Why are you interested in working at Scotlynn and what do you know about the company?
- Can you talk about your experience with phone communication?
- How do you demonstrate that you are organized?
Logistics Account Manager
The interview started with a quick 5-minute call just to set up the next interview. Then, there was a 20-minute phone call where they asked about my interest in logistics, my knowledge of the company, and for me to talk about myself. After that, I was invited to the office for an in-person interview that lasted over 3 hours. This included about an hour and a half of shadowing someone in training and then shadowing an account manager. Finally, I interviewed with a senior person. This part felt more like a chat than a tough interrogation, unlike some other places I've interviewed.
- Can you share some of your strengths?
- What are your biggest weaknesses?
- Could you describe your previous role?
