Behavioral Technical Coding

I started with an online application, then did a one-way video interview and a coding test with a few questions. After that, I had a virtual coffee chat with a recruiter to talk about my background, projects, and what I'm interested in. It was mostly behavioral stuff with some technical talk, felt more like checking if I'd be a good fit than a real interview. They told me the final decision later on the application portal.

The interview process included an online assessment and a final round interview. During the final round, there was a strong focus on my projects, inquiring about their technical details, the impact they achieved, and the specific methods used for their development.

Behavioral Technical Coding

The interview process was really messy. First, I had a chat with HR. Honestly, the job ad seemed dodgy because the recruiter mentioned the role didn't really sound like a Software Developer. But, they were nice enough to pass my resume for an actual Associate Software Developer opening. Then, I interviewed with the Development Manager and a Tech Lead. They asked mainly about Spring Boot and Multithreading. The questions were a bit tough for an entry-level gig, but it made sense why they asked them. The third interview was a big red flag parade. It was supposed to be with a panel, but the building had new security, and no one told me about it. The interviewer was 10 minutes late, and was waiting inside. The 'panel' was just one person, the other supposed interviewer never showed up. Plus, the interviewer wasn't even on my team and didn't know much about what the team actually does. When I asked about what makes Scotiabank a great place to work or about learning opportunities, they gave super vague answers.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • What can you tell me about Spring Boot?
  • Could you explain concepts related to Multithreading?
  • Can you discuss your previous work experience?
