First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Scotiabank.
Investment Banking Analyst
I applied in 2026 and got moved to the HireVue round. It was pretty straightforward, but they asked more questions than typical HireVue interviews. I think everyone who applied made it to the HireVue, so you really need to do well on that to stand out and move forward to the interview. These were my first IB interviews, so I didn't know what to expect going in.
- What would you do if you received an assignment in an area you had no experience with and your manager wasn't available?
- What made you choose Investment Banking instead of other career options?
- What is your interest in ScotiaBank?
Investment Banking Analyst
We started with a casual group coffee chat with HR. If that went well, we moved on to Round 1, which was about half an hour and included both behavioral and technical questions. The final stage was the Super Day, which lasted an hour and was split into two 30-minute segments: one for behavioral questions and another for technical ones.
- Tell me about yourself
- Why this bank?
- Why investment banking?
Investment Banking Analyst
The interview process started with a first round, and then went straight into a superday. It was all super crunched together with not much time to prepare. I feel like you just need to know basic finance, nothing too complicated, along with normal behaviorals. I didn't really practice my technicals beforehand and I know I botched one question. I should have practiced the standard valuation questions (DCF walkthrough, 3 major valuation types), accounting processes, financial statements and EBITDA questions, and basic LBO questions.
- Can you share three of your strengths and one weakness?
- What kind of hobbies do you have?
- Regarding fantasy football, who do you predict will be the first overall draft pick?
